Softcopy Translation Center was founded on January 2nd, 2006 by its Founder and Executive director; Dalia Ziada.

Softcopy Translation Center is located in Egypt. However, its services are provided worldwide through this official website.

Founder:

Softcopy Translation Center was founded by its owner and Executive Director; Dalia Ziada. She is a highly motivated Egyptian moderate-Muslim young lady who seeks to please Allah and his Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) by helping others. Dalia had got her Bachelor degree in English Language and Literature from Ain Shams University in 2002. However, she did not finish her post-graduate studies in translation techniques yet. Dalia has been given a great talent in translation. She believes that “translation is the most joyful task” in her day. That is why she managed to achieve incomparable success in her work with local and international human rights groups and non-governmental organizations as a human rights activist and translator, before she plans to found Softcopy Translation Center.

Dalia Ziada is an Egyptian human rights activist, blogger, writer, and translator since her graduation in English Department, Faculty of Arts, Ain Shams University in 2002. Ziada’s primary objective is to advocate human rights in general and freedom of expression and women rights in particular. In this, she utilizes all her skills and works on improving them through attending various workshops, seminars, and conferences. They include: Creative Strategies of Non-Violence Activism, The American Islamic Congress – 2007, Psychological Effects of Disaster and Therapeutic Methods: Sinking of a Ferry-Boat as an Example, Psychological Service Center, Ain Shams University – 2006, Ambassadors of Change: Individual Rights and Personal Responsibilities, Cato Institute – 2006, etc.

Dalia is a member of various international and local campaigns and movements including, but not limited to Free Kareem Amer Campaign, Free Activist Campaign, Interfaith Campaign, Itkalem Movement (under foundation), Female Students against Circumcision, etc. Ziada is also a young, yet ambitious writer, whose political and human rights articles are read by the whole universe online (Dalia Ziada Blog, Mideat Youth, Muslim Writers Society, Tharwa-Difference is Wealth, Tharwa_Egypt, Inter-iman, etc.) and in local and international newspapers (International Herald Tribune, Al-Masry Al-Youm, Eshrakat, Al-Anba’a Al-Alamiya, Al-Syassa Al-Dawlyya, Meena Literary Magazine, etc.).

Dalia’s creativity in writing led her to win an honorable mention from Hands Across Mideast Alliance (HAMSA) for an article on women rights in Egypt. Dalia’s work as a translator for NGOs was crowned in 2006 by translating a book on human rights and the internet, from Arabic into English, titled “Implacable Adversaries: Arab Governments and the Internet” published by The Arabic Network for Human Rights Information. Right now, Dalia is working as the Regional Coordinator of Tharwa Foundation in Egypt, Founder and Executive Director of Softcopy Translation Center for NGOs, and Director of American Islamic Congress Office in Cairo (under foundation).

Dalia’s activities helped her name to appear in a number of international and local media including, but not limited to Daily Star Egypt, Cultural Connect Magazine, Global Voices Online, Human Rights House Network, Associated Press, Agence France Press, Kabissa, Index On Censorship, Aid Democrcy, Al-Masry Al-Youm, IRIN News, Tech News World, etc. Dalia’s hobbies include writing Egyptian poetry, cinema scriptwriting, and spending some of her daily time alone by the amazing Nile River.

Vision:

Softcopy Translation Center is the first website in the Arab World to offer English/Arabic specialized human rights translation services online. We are looking forward to add more languages within the next five years. We also plan to be the best translation service providers in the Arab world within the next fifteen years. We believe we can and know well how to do this.

Mission and Goal:

Cultures are mainly based upon translation. We aim to be the revivalists of Arab culture by providing purposeful translation services form and into Arabic language. On the same moment, we will do our best to spread the human rights culture among Arabs.

Softcopy Translation Center is located in Egypt. However, its services are available to the whole universe thanks to online communication services. We are working mainly through this website. We welcome any person to translate anything, anytime, from English into Arabic or vise-versa.
